Let people be wrong about you.

Do you remember when Jesus said,

“I only do what I hear my Father say”?

That made me think of something.

What did the Father actually say to Him — that’s on record.

At His baptism, the Father spoke:

“You are My beloved Son, and in You I am well pleased.”

On the mountain, the Father spoke again:

“This is My beloved Son. Hear Him.”

And then there’s that moment where the Father speaks, and Scripture says some people thought it thundered.

Because thunder is loud.

It can scare people.

But a voice is what calms people — highlighting how people interpret divine communication through their own understanding.

I think people still hear thunder today when it comes to the Father and His voice.

The Bible interprets itself here.

Jesus didn’t hear thunder.

He heard the Father’s voice speaking His identity over Him again and again:

“You are My beloved Son.”

And it’s interesting that when Jesus stood before trial, He didn’t speak a word.

He didn’t respond to accusations.

He didn’t answer the noise.

He only spoke when the questions were about who He is:

“Are You the Son of God?”

“Are You the King of the Jews?”

He answered when truth about His identity was being spoken —

not the accusation,

not the thunder.

Some hear noise.

Sons hear a voice speaking identity over them,

and they only answer to who they are,

not to who they are not.

People said many things about Jesus,

and He gave no reply to false accusations or false identity,

because He knew the truth.

Let people say what they want.

You know who you are.

Don’t let their thundering noise have any say over you.

Prayer

Father,

We rest in Your voice that has always spoken truth over us.

Thank You that our identity is not shaped by noise, accusation, or misunderstanding,

but by what You have said from the beginning.

We choose to listen for Your voice above every other sound.

We receive again what You speak —

beloved, well pleased, known, and secure.

Teach us to answer only to who we are in You,

to remain silent before false identities,

and to stand at peace in the truth You have spoken.

We place every situation, every word, and every accusation into Your hands,

trusting that Your truth carries its own power.

Let us hear that still, small voice speaking in us and over us

that we are Your beloved children,

in whom You are well pleased.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
